Error trying to deploy win 8.1 to a Surface PRo 3.  A Connection could not be made to the deployment share. The following network device did  not have a driver installed. See screenshot.

I'm trying to deploy a windows 8.1 64bit image to a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 using WDS.

I am able to pxe boot the device to a certain point and this error appears. I use the USB Ethernet adapter from MS.

I have added the whole Surface driver pack into my deployment share downloaded from here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38826I

I used this guide
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2014/07/15/deploy-windows-to-surface-pro-3-using-microsoft-deployment-toolkit.aspx

Can Anyone  point me to the right direction?

thanks,

Ron

examine your boot.wim to confirm the drivers are present.

examine the MDT logs to confirm that the drivers were injected into boot.wim without errors

you can create Litetouch USB boot media (as a test/alternative to PXE/WDS) and enable debug [F8] to check on the Surface when booted, confirm the driver presence and loaded_status, etc

Perhaps also consider *NOT* injecting the wireless driver into boot.wim, since you will never need/use wireless in WinPE (it could be, that it would show you a different error without that driver, e.g. "no network adaptors found",

Sorry for the late response, lots to do.

But not injecting the driveres did not help.
At the moment i had to give the remaining surfacepro to a user, i have to wait untill i get another one

In the meantime, How can i examine the boot.wim? The surface boots with "litetouch_PE_x64.wim"

Also about the USB boot. I have a USB boot but when i follow the procuedure to boot via the USB it still wants to boot via PXE.

I don't understand, i use this USB drive and also PXE boot on several other systems as mentioned and only the surface pro is giving me troubles.
